A backup can be considered insurance for your data. Computer data can be easily lost: your hard drive can suddenly fail, a virus can wipe files from your computer or your computer/laptop may get stolen. Not to mention fire, flooding, etc… You’re protected against such distasters only if you have a backup of your files. When an incident happens it’s a simple matter of restoring that data and you are back in business.

Backup software is not used only for emergencies.
If you buy a new computer, using Titan Backup software you can easily transfer all backed up documents from your old computer, even if you change the Windows version. Titan Backup software is an easy-to-use and complete solution, designed for secure backups of all your important files.

Titan Backup will start automatically at Windows Startup and you can access it quickly from the system tray. Creating and restoring a backup task is easy and intuitive, just one-click away and directly from the main window. The User Interface of the program can operate in Simple or Advanced mode.

Non-proprietary archive format. Titan Backup uses standard Zip archives (ZIP64), including self-extracting archives

Titan Backup doesn’t use proprietary archive formats like other backup programs. It uses the standard Zip file format. This makes it very easy to restore data manually from the backup archive even if Titan Backup is not installed. You can choose to create self-extracting archives that will allow you to unzip even if you don’t have a compression tool. Titan Backup can also create backups without compression for faster processing and more redundancy. The files and folders structure is always preserved. If using ZIP compression Titan Backup can split and span the archive over multiple hard-drives.

Incremental and differential backups, version control using stacked backups

Titan Backup can operate in incremental mode to back up only new and changed files ( incremental ), or to delete from the current backup the files that don’t exist anymore in the source location (differential). Titan Backup also provides a version control mechanism that allows you to keep mutiple versions of a file in stacked backups. You can always view the differences between the current files and the last backup in a special viewing box that identifies changes in different colors.

256-bit AES strong encryption

Titan Backup uses military-strength 256-bit AES strong encryption to protect backed up data privacy. AES encryption algorithm has been adopted by NIST as an FIPS-approved (Federal Information Processing Standard) symmetric encryption algorithm that should be used by U.S. Government organizations (and others) to protect sensitive information.

Predefined searching filters that allow you to backup certain file types from your computer

Predefined searching filters to look on your computer for specific types of files. You can choose to backup music files, productivity documents, photos and other specific file types from all your hard-drives, without selecting each folder individually. The program will search all fixed drives for you. You can also select your own masks.

Data integrity

Titan Backup makes CRC verification of each file it copies during the backup process to ensure the integrity and consistency of your backup files.

Run third-party programs or commands before and after the execution of a task

You can select external programs to run before the backup starts or after it ends. Also there is the possibility to shut down the computer automatically after the backup task is done.

Backup Windows Registry

You can include your Windows registry in the backup. Important notice: this feature should be used with caution, as restoring the Registry can be very dangerous for a novice user and can crash the system.

Built-in easy-to-use task scheduler

Titan Backup doesn’t rely on the standard Windows Task Scheduler, but implements a more advanced scheduling mechanism. Titan Backup makes it easier for you to schedule your backups from basic settings (such as running a task on a specified day and time) to very advanced settings.

Email notifications regarding the backup task

You can configure Titan Backup to send notification emails on errors, warnings or summary reports of a successfully finished backup task. Additional options allow you to attach the backup log file and send the email to several addresses. The email notification feature uses custom outgoing SMTP server.

Detailed logs of all backup operations

Titan Backup writes local logs of all backup operations, so you can determine what was backed up, start & end times, elapsed times, summary information, operation status, possible warnings and errors. The logs are per Task, or consolidated logs of all tasks. Logs can be exported to HTML.

Plugins

Titan Backup has an engine that allows the execution of plug-ins.
A plugin, is a file that describes a set of consistent backup operations ( files, folders and registry keys ). The plugins are meant to be used to describe what needs to be saved for certain applications.

Titan Backup comes with a set of predefined plugins for popular applications, such as mail clients ( Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Opera, Eudora, etc) and other program settings ( Firefox, Internet Explorer, Winamp, etc. ). You can find the default plug-ins in “Drive: \ Program Files \ Titan Backup \ Plugins”.

The plugin file is in standard XML format, and it is open to anyone who wants to write their own plugins.
Before writing your own plugin we suggest to study the default plugins that come with Titan Backup ( built by our own programmers ).

If you wrote a plugin and want to share it with others please send it to [email protected] and we’ll publish it on the website. We might even include it in one of our future releases.
